Development Update

Hey everyone, I know I've been silent for a long time on this and though I've posted some updates on my Twitter regarding the project, I wanted to post something here to give you all a status update on Warrior of the North Wood. The good news is that this project isn't dead! I've still been working on it to see what I can do to continue but there's been a major challenge in front of me which has prevented any forward movement up until now. The problem being the game engine. In short: I picked the wrong engine. It won't do what I want to do and in order to hack it into something that remotely works, I have introduced a litany of bugs and issues that simply cannot be resolved. In the end, I basically chose the most inefficient method to do the most simple tasks and I paid for it with the current mess I have on my hands. It lead me to the most obvious, though also most painful conclusion. The game, in it's current state, has to be completely scrapped and recoded from the ground up. This has just been an incredibly daunting task for me and between my day job, my night job and personal life, it's been so difficult to sit down and actually invest the time into learning a whole new engine and rebuilding everything. Why do I bring this up now? Well, because there's been an exciting development.

A good friend of mine saw the project as it is and offered to re-code it for me! They were very excited by the game and has been eager to get started in repurposing everything I've already built and coding it into something that is significantly more efficient, more streamlined and less buggy. What's more, I'll actually be able to use all the assets I've already created for the new, second area and the first boss fight in this new build! So while I have nothing to show as of now, I just wanted to let you all know that we could be having some very exciting developments very soon and I'll keep you all abreast as things progress.

Hope you continue to do well I wish you the best. I love the game and the the work put into it is great. One question where does the main character originate from? I think I looked it up but can't remember.

I'm happy to see you haven't given up on this, I don't mind if we all have to wait a bit longer to play your game because you seem like you've got a lot going on, I hope you get some time to relax and work on this at your own pace, go get em terdburgler!

Phew! I'm glad it's not dead (even though it has to basically be cut-and-pasted to a new engine).

Thank you for the update. And if you get the time, can go to a park or something and just chill for a sec that would be good because your brain needs to see that nature, it's a requirement not an option. Thank you.

Don't overwork yourself, and make sure you get enough rest. The only thing that I would like to suggest at the moment aside from rest is that once it's been finished enough for a release, I would appreciate a preferences toggle thing, as there's really only one thing that I wasn't a big fan of, and that's the wolf. Aside from that just know that most of us are patient, don't try and overwork yourself, and be sure to get plenty of rest.

Just try not to overwork yourself. Its just gonna add to your problems
